Which Type of Orthodontics Is Best for You?

Invisalign
Invisalign® is a popular form of orthodontics that uses clear plastic aligners to bring teeth into alignment, typically over a period of 12 months. Invisalign patients receive a series of custom-made clear aligners, and they switch to a new aligner set every two weeks throughout treatment. Invisalign aligners are worn for at least 20 hours a day. To see the best results from treatment, they should only be removed to eat or brush and always be put back in before bed.
Invisalign is best for patients with mild to moderate alignment issues. However, our Beaver Falls office and other five locations offer Invisalign attachments. These small dots of tooth-colored resin are applied to the front of teeth to create a stronger hold between the aligner and the teeth, making treatment for more complex issues possible. Traditional Braces
Traditional metal braces are a classic orthodontic option that has helped millions of patients achieve straighter teeth and overcome bite issues. In fact, according to the Pennsylvania Dental Association, approximately 4 million Americans are wearing braces at any given moment.
How do braces work? A series of metal brackets are bonded to the front of the teeth. An archwire is threaded through the brackets to exert pressure on the teeth. Rubber bands can be attached to the brackets to increase the force and more precisely target bite issues.
Braces can be used to correct mild to severe misalignment. Treatment typically takes around 24 months.
Clear Braces
Clear braces are very similar to traditional braces, but they use tooth-colored ceramic brackets and a clear or tooth-colored wire for more discreet treatment.
These braces are especially popular among adults with professional obligations. You can receive orthodontic care for more complex issues without drawing unwanted attention to your treatment.
Clear braces can also correct mild to complex alignment issues, but treatment timelines are typically a bit longer than they are for metal braces.
